Plot summary

Fatima, a woman in her forties, becomes an online overnight sensation. Sofi and Cami, a pair of young influencers, will try to take advantage of Fatima's sudden popularity by pretending to be her friends, unbeknownst to them that they messed with the wrong person!

First of all, the English title(LIKE OR DIE) is absolutely ridiculous and i'd say even misleading. This movie is deeper and more complicated than this title suggests.SENORA INFLUENCER is a good movie, something like a dark comedy and a psychological drama thriller. Sort of like a blend of BEING THERE with Peter Sellers and AMERICAN PSYCHO. This is less good than those films, still i enjoyed it a lot. It's sad, funny, intense and unpredictable: A lot of things happened that i didn't see them coming. It's not just a dark satire against Social Media and this "influencing" dumpster. The protagonist is a disturbed person, also multilayered and interesting due to her past. I won't say much in order to avoid spoilers but even though it's a 2 hours movie, i was invested all the way through, until the end.Mónica Huarte was marvellous.I don't think it's a great movie but it deserves more recognition outside of Mexico, and it's sad that there were only 3 reviews here. Not many recent movies are more clever than this.

Pretentious at its best.

I'll start by pointing out that in Mexico, we often settle for less, and unfortunately, this film doesn't escape that trend. Despite the praise it receives for being somewhat different from the typical trash cinema we're accustomed to, I can't overlook its shortcomings.The direction lacks maturity, displaying a novice and pretentious approach. Although it tries to present itself as a psychological thriller, it ends up closer to a mediocre attempt at gore.The screenplay is disappointing, with an exhaustingly repetitive nature that reflects a lack of creativity and depth in its construction.The performances are noticeably weak, exposing the inexperience of the main cast.Even the makeup, a crucial element to immerse oneself in the story, falls short and fails to support the cinematic illusion.
