'Shadow Death' (2025)

'Shadow Death' (2025)Written & Directed By: Chris Spinelli.Cast: Luca Luca Toumadi, Bryan Brewer, Johnny Mask, Emiko Ishii, Masashi Ishizuka, Everett Smith, Shane Ryan-Reid, Rebecca Keiko Zinke, Wendy Winters, & Chris Spinelli.Never a great sign when you see a movie written, directed by, and starring all the same unknown guy, but my thirst for new media to consume is real. When you see a newer movie immediately available to stream on Tubi, it's never a good sign either. On one hand we have seen worse efforts than this, the camerawork, costumes, and settings aren't horrible - looking like it was probably filmed in some independently wealthy dude's friends & family homes, using their own personal vehicles (as evident by how rusted out the one SUV is), but the acting is pretty bad, and the writing & directing is even worse. Music is pretty stock, sound editing is at times muffled, & this is by no means a "Horror" film. Plot is contrived as all hell. Thank god it was only 50 minutes long is this film's only respite. Solid 2 for effort.SHADOW DEATH -----2/10.

This was a swing and a miss...

Right, well had I known that this movie was a Cinema Epoch movie, I would have skipped it like yesterday's news. Cinema Epoch aren't exactly known for their stellar movies, now are they? But still, I opted to give the movie a fair chance. However, the cards were severely stacked against this movie from the very beginning. First of all, it being a Cinema Epoch movie isn't a stamp of good quality. And the fact that the movie was written by, directed by and starring the one and the same guy - that being Chris Spinelli - well, that just is something I have an aversion towards. So it wasn't looking great, and I hadn't even made it past the Cinema Epoch logo yet. Now, the storyline wasn't exactly great, but I've seen far worse. But it was a swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me, and it sort of became a movie that just played in the background as I did other things.I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, aside from Jamie Grefe, and he is just not a guy I am a fan of. But the fact that it was mostly unfamiliar talents on the screen was something that actually spoke in favor of the movie. The music in the movie was pretty bad.The movie's cover wasn't exactly overly great either, but at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been.My rating of writer and director Chris Spinelli's 2025 movie "Shadow Death" lands on a generous three out of ten stars, at least he fared better than Jamie Grefe does with his movies also released through Epoch Cinema.
