Great movie until...

This is a great movie that I was really enjoying until the ubiquitous "misunderstanding" that Hallmark seems to think that every single one of their movies must have. I thought that surely this time we were just going to have a really good story where these two people fall in love with each other, finally admit it to themselves and each other, and have their happily ever after. But, alas, no...I was disappointed once again! Hallmark, sometimes we just want a plain and simple, no complications love story! Otherwise, this is a really great movie. Daniel Lissing and Lyndsey Fonseca have great chemistry together. The storyline was original, for once. It could have been a 10/10 for me except for the usual Hallmark nonsense.

One of the better Hallmark Christmas Romances

While there were still a few Hallmark Christmas movie tropes and the movie was somewhat reminiscent of the 2016 Hallmark move "Mistletoe Promise" in some aspects, this was one of the better 2025 Hallmark Christmas releases thus far. What made Single on the 25th work for me was that the story stayed very focused on our two romantic leads and how their friendship grows and becomes something more. It was one of the rare instances where the relationship actually had chemistry.

Unrom/com becomes rom/com

Or maybe it's a parody of romance at Christmas. This is an unusual story, sort of. Actually it has a lot in common with a fake dating movie. Cooper and Nell are both single and alone with Christmas approaching. Nell has paid for a bunch of activities for her family but they can't come. So Nell and Cooper start doing things together and then get drafted to plan Cooper's company party. There are a lot of conversations about "why am I single", "am I really happy", and so on. The dialogue is catchy. The obligatory conflict is forced. The resolution is fresh. I loved Cooper's gift.Lyndsy Fonseca and Daniel Lissing have great chemistry. Fonseca is a gem in the Hallmark family. She is energetic and spontaneous - fun. (Also she seems young vs all the 40+ stars Hallmark uses so often.) Lissing is good also but probably "steady" is a better word for him. Both of these actors are underutilized by Hallmark. This movie is a "keeper", i.e. One to be watched again. In fact I need to watch it again to pick up what I missed.
