As someone connected to this story, I want to share some context that isn't in the film.The family contributed personal home footage to this production. They received no compensation from what became a commercially distributed theatrical release( a thriller, smh). Early conversations included suggestions of donating a portion of proceeds to a nonprofit - that has not materialized. They are now being asked to participate in a publicity/ impact campaign on the film's behalf.The film elevates individuals whose real lives don't reflect how they're portrayed - because they fit a narrative the director had already decided to tell.I don't question anyone's right to make a film. I do think audiences and industry professionals deserve to know that the people closest to this story did not share in its commercial success, and that some commitments made during production remain unfulfilled.I'll let that speak for itself.
