Better than it has any right to be

This is a very low budget movie with a lead actress whose credits are primarily as a stand up/roast comedian. She and the supporting child lead do a good job and have good chemistry which drives the unremarkable plot. So the writing and production isn't great but it's compelling enough to keep watching where the actresses take it and it ends well. Good enough for a shoe string budget thriller/slasher.

This isn't a good film I feel like there were no real stalkers

Stalkers is a horror-thriller that unfortunately falls short in nearly every aspect, leaving the audience frustrated rather than thrilled. Right from the start, the film struggles to find its footing, oscillating between moments of attempted suspense and clunky exposition. The pacing is erratic, and instead of drawing viewers into a tense narrative, it leaves them disconnected and uninvested in the story or the characters. The screenplay is arguably the film's biggest weakness. Scenes feel rushed and disjointed, as though they were written without any thought to narrative cohesion or character motivation. Dialogue is often awkward and heavy-handed, giving the impression that the writers were more focused on filling pages than crafting a compelling story. Important plot elements are introduced haphazardly and often left unresolved, further diminishing any sense of tension.Character development is minimal, which makes it difficult to care about the protagonists or understand their choices. Even the titular stalker, who should be a central source of fear, comes across as underwhelming and unthreatening. Without credible performances or an engaging antagonist, the film struggles to sustain suspense.Direction is inconsistent, failing to create an atmosphere that would support even the modest scares the story attempts. Shots and sequences feel arbitrary, and there's little sense of visual storytelling or pacing that could elevate the material. Instead, the technical aspects only highlight the movie's lack of preparation and polish.Attempts at horror and thriller moments often fall flat. Jump scares are predictable, tension dissipates quickly, and moments that should be frightening are undermined by poor timing or uninspired staging. The film's tone wavers, never committing fully to suspense, horror, or psychological tension, which leaves the audience confused rather than engaged. In the end, Stalkers is a rough and disappointing experience. Between the chaotic screenplay, underdeveloped characters, weak performances, and uneven direction, it fails to deliver on the promise of a gripping thriller. It's a film that could have been interesting in concept but collapses in execution, making it one to skip rather than invest time in.

Even without knowing what I was in for here, aside from whatever little information was given by the movie's synopsis, then I opted to watch "Stalkers" on account of it being a movie that I hadn't already seen.Writers Maryna Gaidar and Luke Sneyd put together a script that sounded way more interesting in the synopsis than what it turned out to be. The narrative is struggling severely with its slow pacing and with nothing interesting happening, and that made sitting through this movie quite a test of will.I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list, not that it was a bad thing, as I do enjoy watching unfamiliar and new talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were fair. There are far better and way more enjoyable thrillers out there, so I can't think of a single reason why you should waste 107 minutes on this one."Stalkers" was by no means a gemstone in cinematic history. Nor is it a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.My rating of director Paul Thompson's 2025 movie "Stalkers" lands on a three out of ten stars.
