Proper popcorn movie

Fun, entertaining nonsense.Put your brain in neutral and enjoy a charismatic fun film. I'd rather watch this of an evening than the majority of boring and pretentious Oscar winners.The performances are ideal for this type of film. It has a few surprisingly heartfelt moments and some cracking one liners. The pacing is reasonable throughout and as a refreshing change it's under two hours long!Ok so now I'm just making up the required character length (who can't a review be precise and to the point?) with a conclusion that this film was fun and a proper old school enjoyable romp. No need to be the best film in the world just a need to be enjoyable!

A time-travel movie that's worth a trip!

I'm a huge Ryan Reynolds fan, and have been told I sound like him, both in voice and in humor.Ryan Reynolds plays a man from the future who travels back in time and meets the 12-year-old version of himself. The similar mannerisms between the older and younger Adam is well rehearsed, as is their sarcastic comebacks.Both characters have recent darkness in their lives, and even though the plot has nothing to do with them helping each other to get through their personal hardships, just being around each other helps them to a small degree of recovery. Meanwhile, bad guys from the future are trying to find the older Adam, while school bullies enjoy beating up the younger Adam.A good balance of comedy and fight/flight scenes. There's some sci-fi knowledge about time travel required to understand a few later parts, and the futuristic weapons are very cool (especially the lightsaber that "isn't a lightsaber.").But, the second half of the movie (when the older and younger Adam travel together to yet another point in time) doesn't make much sense. There's no logical reason for why the younger Adam has to travel through time, nor why he is even still in the movie (his lines of dialog likewise become nonessential, which is a shame.).I also didn't care much for the primary villain: whom is a warm, close family friend in the past, but -- in just three years -- inexplicitly becomes a homicidal introvert fueled by personal greed? (Huh?! Why?) Plus, the breaking into a scientific research facility which apparently has zero employees: no minimum-wage security guards, maintenance or landscapers anywhere to be seen ... it must have been a nonworking Saturday (even though they just left a crowded college campus with active classes going on?!).I don't want to give anything more away than this because it's worth watching. (7 out of 10)

The vocal minority strikes again...

You know what's wrong with this whole aggregation ranking thing? Everybody's a critic and everyone thinks that their opinion matters. And it doesn't. Not one little bit. Mine included, so you can stop reading anytime you like...People are pissed at this movie the way they are pissed at every movie that isn't directed by Christopher Nolan and have a plot you need a PhD to understand. These people appear to have lost the ability to just...enjoy.What anybody who watched this movie - a movie about time travel starring Ryan Reynolds - was expecting when they threw a hissy fit is totally beyond me. Did they not know what was on offer? It kinda says that on the tin. Now, if that's not gonna appeal to you, move along. Nothing for you to see here. For the rest of us - you know, those of us who haven't forgotten how to enjoy stuff an don't require everything we see to be groundbreaking and profound - The Adam Project was a smart, touching and reasonably exciting Sci Fi romp that hit all the right notes and pushed all the right buttons. Recommended.
