The horror of Auschwitz is filmed in a straight forward way which looks authentic. This true story tells of two men who escape to tell the world of the horrors that are occuring in the camp. They hide in an outbuilding under the floor adjacent to piles of dead bodies for a few days until the guards give up searching for them. Only then, after this harrowing experience, do they make their escape. This actually appeared remarkably easy crawling under the outer fence during the darkness of night. They then have to make there way to the Polish border through remote countryside, where they eventually meet some helpful locals. They get a meeting with John Hannah, the only actor I have seen before, who represents the Red Cross. He presents them with a red cross parcel saying I suppose you have seen loads of these, to which they reply, no. Only then does some realisation dawn on Hannah that the negotiatons with the German authorities have resulted in complete lies about the camp. None of the 400,000 parcels the red cross presented have been delivered! Even though at war with Germany the Nazi propaganda machine was still able to deceive. The rumours relating to Auschwitz were so horrific they couldn't possibly be true. A grim story but effective and well worth viewing.
