Does not work for me..

Inexplicably weak situation comedies, childishly simple and predictable events, and critically underrated acting. Perhaps this is also a film that is much better understood and appreciated in its own culture, and one that does not work on the international stage. One thing is for sure: this film does not shine with the unique satirical humour and virtues of former Czechoslovak filmmaking that made filmmaking there the envy of the region. Of course, it is not easy to deny this, since at that time Jirí Menzel and Milos Forman (among others) were making films...

It's an okay Spoof Comedy.

There were several dumb jokes/gags*, some amusing ones, and at least a few that seemed like I had seen before in American films like The Naked Gun series and National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon. Perhaps even Airplane. (*not something that I necessarily dislike, but there were many in her that I could have done without)I feel like the spoof genre has been run into the ground, and most from the past 20 years, get too obsessed with the gags, and forget to tell a decent story, but I am still willing to watch the ones that I haven't seen, and I will certainly re-watch the classics.I am unlikely to watch again.It's not one that I would recommend or say to avoid.Available on Tubi TV.

Maybe it's funnier in Czech?

So I picked this film because it's in Czech, and I'm trying to learn Czech. I'm also trying to learn Dutch, and I recently watched a very bad Dutch romantic comedy. This is not as bad as that one, but I feel that it might be a case where if you don't understand Czech you might miss some of the humor. Some jokes made me chuckle a bit, but it seemed like an endless series of jokes rather than a coherent movie. But on the other hand, it might be that this movie is like Airplane!. A movie like that would be immensely hard to translate and for people who are not native speakers of the language to find funny.
