A Drama That Is Fun To Watch

Adrian (Mario Lopez) is an attorney who is passed over at work. He decides to train for a local firefighter job, where his brother works. Adrian is the oldest recruit, but he sticks with it, despite the fact that another recruit, Charlie (Charlie Besso), considers him a distraction. When it turns out Charlie is the son of Sarah (Ali Cobrin), a woman he finds interesting, things get even more complicated.What drives this story is the energy of Lopez and Cobrin. Both are quite likable. But the romance is only one part. Adrian's re-evaluation of his life is central to the narrative. And the relationship between the two men is also a major story arc.Though the film is considered a drama, there is a pervasive sense of humor. And it has its share of heartwarming moments.

In honor of firefighters

This is a good family drama, with interesting situations involving the loss of a family member, raising a teenager as a single parent, and questioning one's career choices. It just isn't really a Christmas movie.The acting is decent, especially by Charlie Besso as the son dealing with the loss of his father. His role is complex, and he handles it well.To its credit, the story deals with some serious issues without ever feeling dour. Mario Lopez's quest to become a firefighter, all the while wondering whether that is really the right decision, keeps the viewer interested throughout.The sets are beautifully decorated for Christmas, but the season is never the focus. Nevertheless the movie is well made.GAF 2025 B.

Some heartfelt moments

7.2 stars.In a sentence, 'The Christmas Spark' is a decent Christmas movie with ups and downs. The production value is fairly high, not many technical flaws there. On the other hand, the story is uneven. Some scenes seem like a different movie, not sure why, because it's not the lighting, timing, or editing, but the script itself is almost like two stories meshed into one. The romantic moments are endearing, which was nice, but some of the conversations just didn't feel right. I think there was some misfiring all around. I'm trying to figure out what was off about 'The Christmas Spark' and it could be one of a dozen reasons, but my hunch is that the story was fragmented somehow. Being honest, I'm dealing with some circular reasoning and I can't really tell you what was missing, but it was something.
