"The Extortion" presents a universe where the greatest villain is not a psychopath, nor a supernatural monster, but rather the system, that persistent entity that seems to have been born only to remind us that no one has total control over their own life. Here, even a respected pilot discovers that he can be easily manipulated with a poorly printed boarding pass. Martino Zaidelis constructs a thriller that balances tension, paranoia, and that bitter taste of injustice that real life offers us without warning.The script follows Alejandro, a professional pilot who, after hiding a health problem, ends up being blackmailed by the intelligence services. The film quickly transforms into a spiral of subtle threats and forced obedience, where each of his choices is less a choice and more a reaction, as if each step were taken in an airport corridor. Long, excessively lit, and impossible to deviate from.Behind the plot lies a biting critique of the institutional power game, where the individual becomes a disposable piece and the truth is negotiated like extra baggage.Alejandro, portrayed with precision by Guillermo Francella, is the soul of the film. His expression of perpetual exhaustion and his attempt to maintain dignity transform the character into a human portrait of someone struggling to survive his own collapse. The agents, always calculating, function as a symbol of cold oppression. Those faces that never show emotion precisely because they hold too much power. Personal relationships, especially the marital one, reinforce the protagonist's isolation; even in intimate spaces, he seems like a man exiled from himself. The film understands well that the most painful tension is not physical, but moral.The aesthetic is clean, almost clinical. The cold palette reinforces the feeling of constant surveillance, as if every corridor, window, and booth were watching the protagonist as much as the agents."The Extortion" deals with being crushed by forces that claim to "protect the country" while destroying the individual. It deals with the silent fear that settles in when one realizes there is no choice, only different ways to survive.

Great all around. Nicely written, acted and executed.

This movie doesn't waste any time, it goes straight to the action/suspense and doesn't have any single minute wasted with annoying scenes or filler scenes or anything that doesn't advance the plot.

Very well acted, specially for me, Pablo Rago deserves a praise for his role. The dialogs are real and simple, sometimes that's the most annoying thing about argentinian films.

Another thing to say about this movie is that not one single character makes something stupid like in most movies. Every one acts real and you don't have that desire of facepalming yourself.

I really recommend you watching this movie. Time will fly by, because it keeps you hooked until the very end.
