A Feature Which Fulfills the Promise of its Ambitious Nature!

I'm not a movie connoisseur, but I know what I like and I like this movie!Nick Salazar goes all out in his first movie, writing, starring and directing in a wonderfully unique story which captivates as well as intrigues. The story contains many elements, spanning across genres inviting careful contemplation, as well as joyful appreciation. This is a "must-see" for anyone tired of the well-trodden Hollywood paths, but still enjoys heart-warming plot lines and beautiful cinematography.

A Unique & Very Well-Made Debut Feature

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 states that "There is nothing new under the sun" ... and nothing is more true. However, this film does breath some serious new energy into indie movie story-telling that frankly, has been tired for quite awhile now. It's refreshing to watch a film that isn't a rehash or remake, and for that, film maker Nick Salazar deserves high praise. As a connoisseur of independent film, I've come to understand that most are deadly serious, telling small stories, and often lack in the qualities one always wants in a film. "The Game of Life" mercifully breaks that pattern to tell a unique story - one I haven't seen before - and for that, I was EXCEEDINGLY grateful. This film is hard to categorize, as it samples from multiple genres, including a little sci-fi, tech & geekiness, relationship issues, mental health, and even a little bit of zen-ness. I was struck by its strong, quirky script, excellent cinematography, good acting across the board, and numerous delightful instances of Mr. Salazar (he is the lead actor as well) breaking the fourth wall. There is a genuine intelligence to this film that I think ANY viewer would enjoy. In my view, this is an auspicious debut, and a terrific evening of indie film entertainment.

What would you do?

This is an interesting concept where reality is questioned and can we believe what we're being told. No spoilers, but this is a sci fi concept reminiscent of the Twilight zone, and for an indie film pulls it off for the most part. When asked a question, if you have something that can make everything you want come true, what could the danger be?
