Amanda was brilliant!

If it wasn't for Amanda playing Nina, this film would have been a lot worse. It was enjoyable but nothing in comparison to the book. I found Sydney sweeneys acting very wooden. Glad I watched it as I am a huge frieda McFadden fan, but I just found the lead role was lacking, and I did not warm to her like in the books.

Reminds you of the outrageous thrillers of the 90's

The Housemaid is ridiculously fun, so contrived but ever so entertaining. This in part is helped by the go for broke acting of the leads, especially Seyfried. From the get go it is obvious who the real villain of the story is, but it is the why that keeps the intrigue intact until the reveal. This is a very much throwaway popcorn movie that delivers the goods. In the olden days it would be just the actresses giving the T & A, but now the guys get to show a bit of flesh too ... lol. This isn't any prestige movie, but it provides a fun and entertaining time at the movies.

Sigh

Hate to be cliche and be another one who says "the book is better than the movie!!" But that truly is the case here. The first half of the movie felt like a weird low budget film that was just trying to set up a scene of Sydney Sweeney topless. It was weird vibes and just really felt rushed until her intimate scene. After that, it actual felt like the real thriller story it should have been. With that said, maybe I'm just not a Sydney Sweeney fan... I found her acting to be so dry and dull. Amanda on the other hand saved the entire film and was great. The film overall was bleh. If I hadn't read the book, I would think it was fine. But remembering how into the book I was, it fell short for me. I wouldn't rewatch it.
