A Lot of talking, not much action, nothing really to hold one's interest. Honestly, not much of a story at all...

First off, I frigg'n Love Horror films with dolls, puppets, and yes, mannequins! So, I was really looking forward to this one.Sadly though, after the first mildly interesting scene which looked like it was set in the 1940's, when it came back to modern day that's when it lost all momentum. I usually try to be very forgiving with clearly low budget movies, especially B movies, but seriously. After the initial scene you literally have like 15 to 20 straight minutes of just talking, and some party where a group of women are, yes, talking, and then more talking.As you are likely getting the idea there really isn't a whole lot happening here. Now, I absolutely don't mind slow burn Horror films at all. But... you have to have some kind of tension, atmosphere, Something going on as you are 'Slow Burning', and I mean Nothing is going on. And then finally when something does happen, it comes right out of the blue, no buildup, no suspense, just Oh, somebody dies. Actually, you don't even see that, but a person finds someone after they are dead.I was really disappointed with this one, especially since it is called 'The Mannequin' for Goodness sake! But, quite honestly try as I did I simply could not really find much interesting here at all. Even the characters and especially the dialog were very shallow and not terribly realistic, simply not engaging at all. So, all I can say that if someone was setting out to make a scary film about a killer mannequin, well, I can't imagine them making anything less interesting. I gave it a tepid '4' because I truly could not find anything to recommend this rather misnamed movie.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I don't waste your time on just restating the plot, but I try to let you know if I think this is an entertaining movie and what it's strengths and weaknesses are.Hopefully, that will be of more benefit and genuinely helpful to you as to whether I feel the movie is worth watching (and also perhaps what 'Type' of film it is and what type of people may enjoy it)My Particular Way of Rating:5 - Flawed, but perhaps with a little entertainment value here and there for some.6. A decently passable story maybe worth a watch.7. A solid film, well made, effective, and entertaining.And, obviously, you can probably figure out what above and below these would mean... : )

I had higher hopes

This movie had a great deal of hype and I was looking forward to it, but it was just very formulaic and dull.The scares were easy, the twist boring, and the characters, while engaging, not ultimately particularly memorable. The movie had nothing for me to grab on to and enjoy, and I will have forgotten it in a few weeks.Technically, it is a very proficient film, and I am sure the makers had a lot to say with it, but their delivery was poorly executed, and thus the movie wasn't enjoyable.
