A Disappointing Debut

Baby Keem's The Melodic Blue is a prime example of style over substance. While the album boasts a sleek production and a trendy sound, it lacks the depth and maturity of a truly great project. The writing, particularly the lyrics, feels juvenile and underdeveloped, relying heavily on clichés and empty bravado.Keem's attempts at introspection and vulnerability fall flat, often coming across as forced and insincere. The album's thematic inconsistencies further undermine its overall coherence. The production, while impressive, cannot compensate for the lackluster songwriting.The Melodic Blue is a missed opportunity, a project that could have been much more than it ultimately is. It's a reminder that raw talent and hype are not enough to create a truly impactful piece of art.

As a keem fan this movie was amazing. The acting was great and I feel like we haven't seen something like this in quite a long time. Last month, Baby Keem announced a filmed companion piece to his 2022 album The Melodic Blue, out on December 5. The 20-minute short is now available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.

Music to my/your ears

No pun intended - this short movie is able to be something of an extended music video. Or rather I reckon that is how some might watch it. The acting is really good and there is a story. Back in the day (80s and 90s) the big stars did music videos that were short movies themselves. It's been a long time since we have seen something similar.Of course this is more of a movie than a music video. Still you have to love the music to enjoy the rest of course. I did not know who Keem is, but you may have an advantage there. Whatever the case, this is short and sweet and works for what it is supposed to do too.
