Disturbing but riveting

Decidedly not a film that will be used by the Greek Ministry of Tourism to promote visiting and / or living in the country. Syllas Tzoumerkas successfully creates a feeling of constant unease and dread, even in "normal" circumstances (the dinner scene is a standout). Angeliki Papoulia pulls off a role that would be conventional for a male actor (the foul-mouthed cop with a chip on her shoulder), but it is unconventional precisely because she is a woman. You smell something vile and rotten throughout this movie, so it's not for all moods. *** out of 4.

Bad

The cinematography is good and the opening scene was pretty decent but that's all I can say is good about it.

The story is boring, the plot doesn't get going until half way through, the main character is really unlikable, some of the storylines go absolutely nowhere (the director himself even had no intention for them as proven by his q&a at the BIFF), for a mystery the mystery is solved really easily in one of the most distasteful scenes in any movie I've seen... And I could go on.

Avoid at all costs.
