A park without thrills or excitement...

Granted, I didn't really have any particular high hopes or expectations to the 2023 movie "The Park" from writer and director Shal Ngo, as I sat down to watch it. Sure, I hadn't heard about the movie, but after having read the synopsis, it sounded like a very bland run-of-the-mill movie with a storyline that has been done and seen before.But still, I opted to sit down and watch it, as I might perhaps be in for something great here, though it hardly would seem so.And I wasn't in for anything grand. I have to admit that I found the storyline in "The Park" laughably boring and ridiculous. It was, as I had believed, just another movie that uses the trope of all-adults-in-the-world-are-dead. It has been seen and done before, and writer and director Shal Ngo didn't exactly bring anything new or thrilling to the game.I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble, but the acting performances were fair enough, despite the fact that I abhorred the storyline and script.Truth be told, then I didn't finish watching "The Park", and nor do I have any intentions of returning to attempt doing so, because the storyline utterly failed to entertain me.My rating of "The Park" lands on a three out of ten stars.

No real pot to the movie

The Park is about a disease that infects Earth and kills all of the adults. For some unknown reason, it does not have an effect on children until they go through puberty, developing into adulthood.This means after some time the children are left to look after themselves. In a state of survival, the children split into groups and hunt one another for food and water. Without any guidance, they have to learn how to survive. Because of the world they have been left in the children are very untrusting of one another and will even hurt others before thinking.There are very few case members that we are introduced to throughout the movie. The main two are Rue & Bui who have been travelling together for some time. Eventually, they meet a girl named Kuan who is trying to rebuild an amusement park for them to have fun in until their time comes.For some time they try to rebuild the amusement park, reactivating a water slide and the lights. They all talk about a scary story of kids in the woods who kill others and leave a blue sheet on them. These children are supposed to be the villain but you don't see them much so it is very lacklustre.Eventually, we find out that some of the older children have removed their Larynx to cure themselves. Something changes in the Larynx during puberty that is causing the deaths so by removing it they are able to continue living. Unfortunately, this means that they are no longer able to speak.The movie isn't bad, it's just not good either. The acting isn't the best but it's a cast of young actors so I wasn't expecting the best acting. The story doesn't seem to have a good or interesting plot or even develop much throughout the movie. The ending leaves you with even more questions than answers and doesn't even give you a glimpse of what happens next.4/10.

This will make you reminisce your childhood, and young love

I don't understand the low ratings. I actually love this! I love the story. It's very indulging. Makes me think how am i going to be in this situation where i am a kid again and had to deal with fellow kids.It's a beautiful story of friendship, being tough and young love. The lead female was so good. You can feel her sincerity when she's crying.This movie will take you back in time and make you reminisce your teen years and your first love maybe.I love the shots, the natue, the sea. The scenery captured the lonely vibe of the film of surviving.My only problem with this movie is it's very short. Only a little over an hour. But it's worth the watch. Not top notch but definitely not trashy. Deserves more than 5.
