Plot summary

In 1978 Oregon, Ben and Jules inherit an abandoned coastal property from Ben's late mother, who's never mentioned it. The untouched house has been kept a secret for 40 years and comes with a beautiful private cove and beach. Jules searches for answers while Ben unwittingly awakens a fiercely protective creature.

The best part of this movie were the monsters, we love a good use of practical effects.

50/100 marks from me. Started off really well. Interesting concept and cinematography. But then just went the way of current Hollywood. The male character just incompetent and couldn't do anything, not even smart enough to ever bring a weapon or a knife with him to try and fight the creature. I did however enjoyed the score but wish my audio change editing was better.That being said everything else was not great. Contrary to most of the other reviews I was actually kind of feeling the beginning, but the continuity in this film ruined the whole thing for me. Also I understand that people don't always make the best decisions in horror movies but god was this hard to watch during the climax.The Tank had an interesting premise. The idea was semi-original. The setting was beautiful and creepy at the same time. Some decent tense moments. Overall, an ok scary movie to pass the time.

Jules, you spoke Latin.

We have a quick 1946 opening of the film where a guy goes into a water tank and has trouble getting out. Fast forward to 1978 pet store run by Ben (Matt Whelan) and Jules (Luciane Buchanan) Adams in Oakland. Here we get some basic background information on amphibians. The house with the water tank is inherited by Ben who did not know anything about it. The family which includes a daughter (Zara Nausbaum) drives up to Oregon to check out the property which is very remote. A realtor fills in the clever backstory of the land making the case for a creature being on the property. The creature slowly makes its way into the story, always going after visitors first before the family must fight for their lives.The California family drove up to Oregon from California in their car that already had Oregon plates. Did we miss a scene? Special effects not too bad. The story did drag on.Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
