På villspor - A very Norwegian film.

It is a saying in Norway that we are born with skis on our feet - født med ski på beina. I found this film so close to my hart. Just loved it. This hopeless lady, no initiative, no drive, just does this one great thing. Birken is a hurdle for everyone, trained or not. To make a movie about it is a great ide. All the plots around it are, to me, irrelevant. Although the baby aspect are real to a lot of people + the intricate family relationships. That is really not the film for me. That it is made in Oslo, where I was born, is also a plus. Loved the clime to Holmenkollen. So thanks for making this film :D.

Loved it!

Really enjoyed this movie. Already watched it twice this week! Enjoyed the different characters, the storyline and the beautiful scenery from the countryside in Norway. This was really my cup of tea, and nice surprise when I randomly chose to watch it. Made me both laugh and cry. I trained myself to run 20k after having been knocked a bit around by life, so I could relate a bit. I highly recommend this movie if you're looking for feel-good without being too cheesy.PS somone commented on the English accent, however, you should watch it in it's original language with subtitles - dubbing really ruins movies since the voice is such an important part of the actor and the acting ;-)

Sweet Feel-Good Movie

I enjoyed this movie and found it to be good natured, light entertainment. At the start I was unsure how the seemingly hopeless central character could carry the movie, but she was likeable enough to keep me watching and her character develops nicely through the movie. Also there are a number of subplots involving her family members which added to the interest. Certainly the plot is contrived in many places but for the most part it is believable enough to carry messages about family values and determination.The cross country skiing scenes were the highlight of the movie showcasing some beautiful forest scenery. As an Australian I couldn't help but think that "The Birkin" cross country ski race was somewhat akin to our "City to Surf" fun run which also attracts thousands of participants. It too celebrates athletic success, but like The Birkin it is just as much about having a go, having fun and having the determination to finish.If you're looking for realistic drama this isn't it, but for light entertainment it's very much worth the watch.
