Man Finds Dog; Man Cares for Dog; Dog Gets Well; Man Gets Sober

This is a sweet movie in its own way, in places where the man/dog connection heals both, but equally frightening as the protagonist decides to abstain from alcohol for thirty days so that he can see his mother in hospice.There is friction between white and native people even though it is a Native American who stays the course with the creaking sobriety of Matt. It is another Native American who teaches Matt about the soul deep bond of man and dog, which precludes superficial commands and demands mutual commitment.Thirty days does not stay the hand of death respecting Matt's mother, but he is present to eulogize his mother and to, in a tiny little way, connect with others.All in all a poignant watch.
