The importance of giving is not enough

6.4 stars.I would really like to give this film a higher rating, but in all honesty, I must be true to myself. I don't watch Hallmark and GAF and UP movies solely for the religious message, because I have a lot of other platforms and materials I readily access for this. I watch these supposedly feel good movies for an uplifting and entertaining experience.While 'Timeless Tidings of Joy' is somewhat uplifting, it's far from entertaining. The dialogue is not particularly stimulating, but rather it expresses one simple theme, which is to emphasize charity over profit. I agree with the statement, but aren't Holiday family movies expected to provide some entertainment along with the preaching? I am not watching these movies for the sermon, I'm watching for romance and a little fun and even some adventure (the sermon comes last).What about the adventure? The potential adventure is curtailed by the script, which diminishes the fun stuff (e.g. Time travel) and embroils it with a discourse on the importance of giving to the community over giving to yourself. Fact is, I don't need a time travel trope to point out the obvious lesson, so it's a waste of good fantasy material. On the other hand, everything is so wonderfully expressed with MOST aspects of the production, such as the lighting and music, even the acting was decent. However, the dialogue and general subject matter of the conversations was a killjoy. In other words, the conversational elements of the film are lacking, while the technical aspects are flawless.

PureFlix just dropped Timeless Tidings of Joy and I'm still crying happy tears! This is the most beautiful Christian Christmas movie I've seen in forever. It's pure joy wrapped in twinkling lights, hot cocoa, and that warm, fuzzy feeling only a faith-filled love story can give you. Candace Cameron Bure is radiant as always, but the real magic? Watching her real-life daughter Natasha Bure play Candace's on-screen grandmother in the flashback scenes! Mind officially blown. Little DJ Tanner all grown up, now acting alongside her own baby girl as her grandma. Full-circle, full-heart, full-on tears every time they share the screen. The chemistry is so real you forget it's acting. The story is everything Christmas should be: a sweet, slow-burn romance where love isn't about grand gestures or getting something back, it's about quietly showing up for someone because God put them in your path. No "what's in it for me?" Just pure, selfless, "How can I bless you today?" love. And the way they weave in trusting God's timing when life feels messy? Whew, I felt that in my soul. Snowy small-town vibes, carols that make you tear up, and a message that screams: God's plan is always better than ours, even when we can't see two steps ahead. By the end I was smiling through tears, hugging my family, and ready to love people a little harder this Christmas. PureFlix nailed it. 10 stars, no notes. Grab the tissues, the hot chocolate, and the whole family; this one's going on repeat all December. Thank You, Jesus, for stories like this!
