Plot summary

Comedy special spotlighting Tracey Ullman’s larger than life character Ruby Romaine from HBO's Tracey Takes On (1996–1999). After an illustrious career, veteran Hollywood makeup artist Ruby has decided to call it quits. Or has she? In her makeup trailer, Ruby tells a series of hilarious tales and explains why she reconsidered her retirement. With Debbie Reynolds, Jane Kaczmarek.

this was real funny

i think tracey ullmans trailer tales were awesome...especially tryin to get her makeup job back..lol..when are u comin back with another tracey takes on series...tracey???? more hbo specials would be great too...maybe with fern rosenthal or linda granger? YEAH!

As deft as ever

Tracey directs this one, with much the same rhythm and truth as her "Takes On" series.Surprises include legend Debbie Reynolds playing it straight to Ruby Romaine's booze-soaked stream of consciousness; new characters Svetlana and Pepper Kane; veterans Barbara Bain, Paul Dooley & M. Emmet Walsh all casted brilliantly in flashbacks (the tales as spun by Ruby).Ruby is certainly among the most inspired of Ms. Ullman's characters. This HBO special is long overdue & much appreciated. Viva Romaine!!!
