A promising idea poorly executed.

From the first 15 minutes you can tell the movie and its plot with the you "secret plan" the guy has to save his marriage are going both to fail.Pushed myself to half an hour into the movie, and realised how laughable the production is.Add to that the terrible acting!45 minutes into the film and it keeps failing: every idea that seemed good was badly executed (no spoilers here).By the end of the first hour I had no doubts this was a waste of time.An amateur film from the 1980s wouldn't have been so poorly executed.I left it playing to the end and... whatever. Just don't wast your time.Maybe if it was written in a better way, with better acting and less boring directing it would have met some basic standards.

This one here is really cool ...

... all about survival and about trickery and best laid plans turning out to be exactly the opposite of what you intended them to be. The main filmmaker, the filmmaker here, Jason Biggs, mostly known from the American Pie series all those years ago, is still the same person getting into scrapes, getting caught, trying things which cannot possibly work.And they don't work. This is absolutely excellent. The humour here is really present all the way through and yet it is dark. The main actress, very pretty she is too, and racially indefinable until you read her Wikipedia page and you find out she is a mixture of Goan Indian and Anglo-Austrian Jew-ish.She does a really good job of a person who's looking bored and then turns out to have fire in her more than you would possibly guess. There is a whole part of this film which is about trauma and getting over trauma, about fighting back, about being the one who comes on top. So it is a mixture of dark humour, therapy and getting even.It is quite twisted overall, quite clever. I read reviews and do not see much acknowledgement of any of this. But I guess people will see different things in pieces of work. I had never seen a film by Jason Biggs before. I saw him as an actor all those years ago and thought he was very funny. And do you know what? It still is.And there is not a cigarette paper you could put between his character here and the character he played in those American Pie films all those years ago. Totally enjoyable, I thought. Totally enjoyable. Highly recommended.

What was the point of this movie?

Untitled Home Invasion Romance (2026) is a black comedy thriller movie directed by Jason Biggs and it follows an actor staging a home invasion during a romantic getaway weekend with his wife as a last-ditch attempt to save his failing marriage. This is a movie that was on my watchlist because Jason Biggs was directing it. I just got done watching the movie and it was freaking awful.Positives for Untitled Home Invasion Romance (2026): The movie is only 85 minutes long. Meaghan Rath is the only actor giving a good performance. That's all I've got to say for the positives.Negatives for Untitled Home Invasion Romance (2026): The execution of the story is so horrible. I get the point of the story, but it fails to be interesting or funny. Aside from Rath, the acting from the rest of the cast is awful. I have never cared about Jason Biggs as an actor, although I haven't watched any of the American Pie movies. Biggs' character is a freaking moron and a bad husband, who couldn't get his home invasion right. The other characters are just there for reasons and they are nothing. I didn't find any of the kills to be good. And finally, the ending was really freaking stupid.Overall, Untitled Home Invasion Romance (2026) was just as awful as I expected it to be and it was a massive waste of time.
