Plot summary

Pornfluencer - these are the new influencers that nobody talks about, but that everyone knows anyway. Jamie Young and Nico Nice aka Youngcouple9598 aka Andreea and Nico have made a fortune as a porn couple on the internet. Now they are living their dream under the palm trees in the tax idyll of Cyprus. But how does it look behind the facade?

Creepy whilst pretending not to be creepy.

On the surface, this is about a young couple who decided to film their own sex and sell it online in order to get rich. That makes it look like just another softporn-in-the-guise-of-documentary.But the feeling of unease grows as you watch it. There is more behind this shallow couple shamelessly exploiting their own sexuality.It gradually becomes clear how she is very insecure and has been groomed by a pick-upartist. She has taken on all of his misogynistic beliefs and is shown reading affirmations in front of a mirror that center around her endless love for him.The documentary never makes this explicit and sort of keeps pretending to me just what it is - a documentary about a couple making money with sex. But at some point the whole exploitation is so in your face that you can't deny it any longer.

a study of sexual coercion

An excellent study about the dynamics of sexual coercion and coercive control. This guy, a self proclaimed pick up artist, does not understand that NO means NO. Coercive control is now illegal in countries like England and Wales and I hope many more will follow.There is a short German documentary about those two in which he outright says " If I want sex, I'll get it. I'll coerce Jaime until she gives it to me, otherwise I get aggressive". Both say that it is a woman's job to provide sex for the man whenever he feels like it and sexual assault is normalized as "Even if you say NO initially, you just have to leave your comfort zone".Disappointing to see that those two get one platform after another in a world in which sexual violence against women is tolerated and normalized.
