Don't believe these positive reviews

Take a look at them. Most are made by people who have been "members" on IMDb for as long as the lifespan of a Mayfly. These writings are clearly made by shills. This is the most blatant abuse of IMDb reviews I have ever seen. You'd think they would try harder with their scam to make it seem more convincing. Why put all that effort into covering for a below average genre vehicle when they could've, instead, put the effort into making a good movie?

Hilariously Bad. At first. Then it's Just Painful...

First and foremost, for anyone skeptical about the widespread accusations of fake, highly positive reviews for this movie, there is good news. All you have to do is watch the trailer, or the first few minutes, to find out how much of a joke it is. Really. It's that conspicuously bad. I am entirely certain that the vast majority of raving reviews posted for this film on IMDb are fake. The filmmakers have obviously run a sadly successful campaign of spamming the site with sham accounts, and as another reviewer has pointed out, the ages of these accounts give them away. I have also looked into many of these accounts to find that "Whispers" is the only film the owner has reviewed since the account's creation. Sloppy and shameful. On to the actual review:This movie does one thing well. It manages to be entertaining in its sophomoric attempt at suspense and psychological horror. It does this for about the first ten minutes. Then it's just the kind of bad that makes you want to fall into a deep sleep, and upon waking, express your anger and bewilderment at its IMDb rating. There isn't much to be said about the film's substance. It has none. The actors are so bad that they turn a substandard horror/thriller script into what plays out like a soap opera. Everything that the film tries to do falls flat. The parts of the script that could have worked as semi-decent horror are utterly ruined by the poor execution of everything from acting to set design, cinematography and editing. At first, trying to keep an open mind, I thought: maybe surrealism? Absurdism? Maybe it's trying to be this incoherent and ridiculous? I actually couldn't tell if it was intended or if it was simply the generally clunky performance of the actors and filmmakers. However, intended or not, it quickly ceases to be entertaining, and also becomes exceedingly obvious that "Whispers" takes itself very seriously. Eventually, after wasting 90 minutes of my life, I came to the incontrovertible conclusion that, no. This movie is just bad. No need to overthink it. The filmmakers certainly didn't.

So many fake reviews

I normally won't review something however good or bad but after seeing a lot of the fake 9 and 10 ratings by members of the cast and crew it needs a balanced HONEST review - after all, people look at the overall rating and reviews to choose a film don't they? At the time of writing this has a 7.7 rating - so it's almost on a par with The Omen and The Exorcist right? The dialogue is false and forced - the main 4 "actors" got tong-tied over and over again and nothing seemed natural - why didn't the director just say "try it one more time"? Poor editing and ADR work - I know it was low budget but at least try and be professional about it - at times it looked like the whole film was dubbed badlyThe story was decent but how many "bereaved parents life disintegrates in a supernatural setting" films need to be made? - There are many better ones and this is just full of clichéIf you want to be professionals then act like professionals and not have a "that will do" attitude - this made Ed Wood look like HitchcockIf you make a film don't fake reviews and ratings because it really makes you sad, pathetic and needy4/10 at best
