A Chance Missed

During about the first half of "Whose Child Am I", I tought how sensitive and balanced this movie is. It could have been as sterile, scientific and boring as a school education movie or as bad as a german "Schulmädchen Report": "Insemination Report! How children are really made!".In the second half, it just did that.Whereas in the first half it takes its time to lay out the moral dilemmas of parents-to-be, it takes just too many shortcuts, hastily deals with rather minor issues and adds some bizarre plot twists out of the blue. The performance of the actress portraying the Hippie woman was quite bad. And in the final scenes, I kept asking myself: "Why just didn't they ... ((do it the easy way))?".So, is it worth it? Well. If you are into (more than) topless women, watch a "Schulmädchen Report". If not, you won't miss much here.

Social issue mixed with explotation/soft-core film

Paul Freeman (of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK fame) and Kate O'Mara plays a couple who can't have a baby, so they go to the doctor to have a artificial insemination from a donor to have a child, another plot of a lesbian couple trying to have a baby, another plot has Freeman and O'Mara being blackmailed, another plot has a lady doctor falling for a older man with a shocking past!. Social issues, medical plot (which was very taboo then, but not shocking now) centers this intresting but sort of poorly put together film leaving lots of questions unanswered. So many plots that I am suprised Freeman doesn't melt like he did in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Barely released by Brian releasing, who released MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH the following year. Fine performance, and supporting players actually gives a very honest performance. Could be a cult classic.
