Plot summary

Wild Butterfly is true crime documentary that follows the tragic story of 24 year-old Claire Murray and her desperate search for a life- saving liver transplant that became a trial by national media. Depicted as an ungrateful junkie who recklessly destroyed her first transplant, Wild Butterfly investigates the true story behind the events that lead to Claire's death in 2010 including new criminal evidence. Catholic institutional cover-up, medical negligence, missing police records, and trial by mainstream and social media, are all at play in this heartbreaking and gripping documentary. This is not just the tragic story of one young woman and her family - this story opens our eyes to the impacts of universal social injustices and prejudices, that could befall any family and anybody's daughter.

Bring your tissues

A powerful and emotive documentary. Sometimes things aren't always as they seem. I really feel for Clare and her family. It must have been a very difficult time for them all. Worth watching, just bring your tissues.

Could Have Been So Much Better

Shame such an important issue and narrative was so poorly executed. Bad direction and bad cinematography. Don't bother.

Decent documentary to watch

This documentary has a lot of staged scenes where the past of the protagonist is shown. At places it is too much dramatic and looks like you're watching an emotional fictional drama. The performance of the lead actor is really captivating and has done justice to the real-life Claire's role. The interviews are informative and takes us through the entire documentary. The music adds drama even more, it sensationalises the film and looses its 'realistic attribute'. The scenes which were recreated from the past could have been better but still, the cinematography is great. It's a good one, must watch if interested in crime-drama-women-life stories.
