The tragicomedy of power, class divide and personality disorder

This is a story that, by design, has many layers and interpretations. Those who expected a light comedy to laugh at, as we can see from some reviews, were predictably disappointed. While the film does contain many genuinely funny moments, above all it is a cautionary tale about the class divide (economic, educational, cultural) and about what happens when the 'lumpenproletariat' seizes power-as it did in the USSR with its popular slogans "he who was nothing will become everything" and "even a cook can govern the state." An aggressive representative of nearly the lowest rungs of society finally gets the chance to impose his will on those who are not only more successful financially but also on a higher level of intellectual and cultural development, and the result is predictably catastrophic. At the same time, a very important aspect of the story is the personality disorder(s) that the main character clearly suffers from. His impulsiveness, irritability, antisocial tendencies, grandiosity, disregard for social rules, contempt for others' personal boundaries, narcissism, and manic traits may indicate bipolar disorder. (Although I am not a psychiatrist, I have had the opportunity to closely observe a person with this diagnosis, so I don't believe I am mistaken in my analysis.)I would also like to note the brilliant performance of the actor. Despite all the traits listed above, there are moments when he also evokes sympathy (for example, when tears well up in his eyes while watching his own 'play,' we come to understand his loneliness and the sense of the wretchedness of his life).

A real good Medium-length film

This movie it's great, it's a medium-length project with I think so a low budget and let me to tell you that you don't need to have a great budget to spending a good moment in front of cinema project cause this one it's very entertaining !!!First to all the pitch it's interesting and the script who make the project it's cool, you have to feel patient throughout the story but at the end the movie got several messages and I appreciated that. What's more the movie it's short so it's more easy to get patient and that project made me laugh many times !!!It's good to have in our industry a different director, as Quentin dupieux who make Medium-length movie instead of long movie, it change a bit and his kind of directing it's enough different that other directors and it's nice to see something else even if for me it's not great shoots but pretty much easier shoots by him, but he is stand out from other director and that's it's cool !!!And what beautiful acting from Raphael Quenard he makes a such good performance, I discovered him from this project and this is the new generation from French cinema and it's pleasure to see a different actors with give an other type of acting cause he got his own acting and that's it's cool too but for me he makes a such good performance and I'm so exiting to see his others projects !!!All credit to rest of cast who played well tooBut unfortunately not a real soundtrack too bad, with a better script why not to do it even if for me it's was enough to get into the story but I think so it could better but it stay a good script though.I spent a nice moment in front this movie and this is the third times that I watched this project but it's not a masterpiece neither but it's a very good good project !!!!

Yannick - A detailed and critical review

"Yannick" stands out for its bold premise and its ability to explore themes of rebellion and justice from the perspective of an ordinary individual. The plot follows Yannick, an everyman who, tired of being a passive observer of life and cinema, decides to take matters into his own hands and make his voice heard. Directed by an emerging filmmaker, the movie employs a combination of satire, drama, and social commentary to create a work that is both provocative and deeply resonant. From the opening scenes, "Yannick" grabs the audience's attention with its vibrant cinematography and dynamic editing. The direction is characterized by innovative shots and a skillful use of light and shadow to emphasize moments of tension and introspection. The city where the story unfolds is depicted with a gritty realism that mirrors the protagonist's sense of alienation and frustration. The screenplay, though not without flaws, is rich with sharp dialogues and situations that highlight the power dynamics between the individual and society. The protagonist, portrayed by a highly talented actor, delivers a performance that is both intense and nuanced. His depiction of Yannick is that of a man who, despite being overwhelmed by circumstances, finds the strength to react in unexpected ways. This complex and multi-dimensional character is the film's beating heart, and his evolution is rendered with an authenticity that makes his actions and motivations believable. The supporting cast, though less developed, significantly contributes to the film's overall atmosphere, offering solid performances that enrich the narrative. One of the most intriguing aspects of "Yannick" is its use of metanarration. The film not only tells the story of a man rebelling against injustice but also reflects on the role of the spectator in cinema and society. This additional dimension gives the film a depth that invites reflection and stimulates discussions on highly relevant contemporary themes. However, this complexity can also be a double-edged sword, as some viewers might find the film overly pretentious or difficult to follow. The soundtrack, composed of original music and well-known tracks, is effectively used to underscore key moments in the plot and to add an emotional layer to the narrative. The musical choices reflect the tension and energy of the film, contributing to an engaging cinematic experience. However, at times, the soundtrack can seem a bit intrusive, distracting the viewer from the action rather than enhancing it. Despite its strengths, "Yannick" is not without its criticisms. Some elements of the plot may seem predictable, and there are moments when the film's pace slows, risking losing the viewer's attention. Additionally, while the protagonist is well-developed, some secondary characters lack depth, making some interactions less impactful than they could be. Ultimately, "Yannick" is a film worth watching for its audacity and its ability to stimulate reflection on important themes. Despite its flaws, it manages to offer a cinematic experience that is both entertaining and provocative. The protagonist's performance, along with the innovative direction and incisive screenplay, makes this film a noteworthy addition to the contemporary cinematic landscape.
