Fun but NO research on how pickleball is actually played

We watched this as a family and had expectations of a unique, fun, Hallmark type Christmas movie ... love the actors but the Producer or Director must have done NO research on how to play pickleball! The game play was horrible, from how the paddles were held to the simple fact that the servers never even switched boxes when after every served point won. The players held their paddles very weirdly, the pickleball used were inside balls not outside balls ...... fun, but someone tried to cut way to many corners when it came to actual game film.

Nope

Since I have no knowledge of pickleball (despite being a Senior citizen) none of those discrepancies bothered me.I am very much not a fan of sports rom/coms or even any kind of competition story where the competition dominates the plot.I am also not a fan when a lead character is a jerk. Luke reformed, mostly, before too long, but the sour taste was there.The fateful Misunderstanding of an overheard conversation was fairly early in the movie. Such a common plot device. Does no one believe in talking to your love interest? Instead, they avoid that person. I did like the plot device that made Caroline doubly at fault for how she treated Luke.

Not for pickleball players

These actors have no idea how to play pickleball. They don't know how hit the ball correctly or where to stand on the court. At one point, the ball is clearly out, but the players act as though it was in. As a pickleball player, it is a very frustrating movie to watch. The writer has obviously never played pickleball before. Disappointing.
