It's a kind of magic

No pun intended - we have a main character here who has to fight quite a lot. Another pun would be to mention demons - but let's leave that aside ... cast it out even? Ok I obviously couldn't resist.There are many things to follow through here and the movie even makes fun of ... well the evil within let's call it ... that's towards the end, when the son does try something and ... let's say someone plays with him ... you'll understand ... so while this is more horror themed, there are some funny moments to be had.

Boring n terrible screenplay.

I got enticed into seeing this cos of the trailer.The trailer showed way too many reptiles n voodoo stuff which kinda gave me goosebumps.The whole time I was waiting for something to happen but alas.There is a scene where a mother encounters her kid semi conscious and rather than taking the kid to the hospital she drives the kid n later asks the kid to lie down.Rather than exploring the themes of medical ailments n their respective medicines, the movie went into the wrong direction.As a horror movie this one is lame, tension, scare, thrill n suspense is nada, zilch, zero.As a drama movie, this fails cos of its abysmal screenplay.

Amazing thriller

Amazing thriller that knows how to thread carefully between drama and the fantastic to leave you wondering which of these categories the movie belonged. After watching this relatively unknown gem I consider Saïd Belktibia one of the best young directors of our times. Well written, well acted, not a single useless minute. Golshifteh Farahani and Denis Lavant I already knew, but young Amine Zariouhi is a revelation, if a little underused.It is also one of the films that take place in the suburbs of Paris, like Vermine and the older La horde, and know how to exploit (in the good sense) that particular environment to the benefit of the film. Banlieues usually make very good policier and social movies, but those three films manage to use them in horror or SF films.All in all, don't miss this intense movie!
