Continuity coordinator took a leave of absence

True story about a boating tragedy. The real tragedy was the filming. The Coast Guard searching in pitch black while survivors are in daylight. The water being rough but the boat being completely stationery, not moving in the waves at all. Huge sharks circling the boat with fins so big the shark would have been bigger than the 21' boat. The Coast Guard sailors standing on deck with no movement at all discussing how if their boat was being thrown around so bad there is no hope for the small boat. Shame as their story deserved better.

My goodness what a terrible script

The overall direction and all technical aspects of this movie were well above average. The filmmaking style itself and convincing special effects managed to invoke quite a bit of tension. But the problem is not the director but the horrible, horrible script he had to work with. The dialogue is unlike anything I've ever heard in a movie that is otherwise so technically impressive. It really is incredible... when such a dramatic, sad story made me laugh out loud several times at the sheer absurdity of the scriptwriter's choices. One minute I'm in horror of the visual brutality... the visceral terror of floating lost in the middle of the ocean in powerful storm. Next moment I'm laughing at the juvenile, incredibly generic dialogue of the supposed-to-be heroic rescuers and the tormented spouses of the people lost at sea. I don't know how this could have happened but it did. Just one script rewrite could have made this film quite the contender in the distaster/thriller genre and been a much better tribute to the people who died in this horrible real-life tragedy. But alas, it is what it is. A riveting, terrifying, powerful movie with comically bad dialogue and characters. The real people involved deserved better.

Tragic Lesson In Boat Safety

Four friends go out for one last fishing trip. With an inclement forecast and things not going as planned, the group is left fighting for survival at sea.Based on the tragic event that happened in 2009. The story is heartbreaking and inspirational. The majority of the movie is set in a single setting, with minimal action and a lot of dialogue. The lighting throughout the movie creates confusion about the event's timeline. The two-hour and one-minute runtime is excessively long. Despite the tragic nature of the event, reading the article is sufficient to understand the story; the movie is unnecessary.
