A Fairytale Come to Life

The opening scene is reminiscent of the movie Madeline, transitioning from animation to live-action. I loved the movie references, especially that of Pretty Woman, which is befitting of this beautifully simplistic film. From the makeover, etiquette lessons, fashion montage, she even leaves the money just like Julia Roberts did, and the limo driver takes her home. The villains are not an outsider, but family, the grandparents/in-laws. The almost kiss was surprisingly an actual kiss. The nitpick would be the obvious green screen used for the car windows, but they were clearly not allowed to drive these very expensive cars. The leading man is no Richard Gere, but the refined English accent makes up for it, and our leading lady sounds just like Scarlett Johansson. They both learn something from each other, and it all culminates with that classic fairytale ending.

Excellent

I've found in a number of cases these rom/com movies in the style of Hallmark / Great American Family movies that are made by different studios can sometimes be a lot better as they are sometimes more creative and have actors and actresses that are lesser known and that's how I feel about this movie. It had a creative story and the lead actress did a fantastic job in a role that required singing and wearing some pretty bulky outfits (that she looked gorgeous in, to boot).Pacing was good, and it felt like the romantic moments were very authentic; the leads both had good on-screen chemistry.Excellent feel-good conclusion to the story and I'd highly recommend it.
