Horrible!

Son of the Preacher (2025) is a hot mess with a title that promises depth and a plot that delivers absolutely nothing. It's a dumb BET film that makes no sense. Its all based of off getting followers on social media. The storyline is weak, the pacing is painful, and the whole movie feels like it's wandering around hoping meaning will magically appear.Skip it. Sermon over.

Semi-watchable at least...

Needless to say that I was, of course, not familiar with this 2025 movie from writer Justin Kelly and director Marvin Towns Jr. Prior to stumbling upon it by random chance. And with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance.The storyline in the movie, while pretty straightforward, fell somewhat short of properly entertaining me. I mean, it was sort of watchable for what it was, but I struggled to keep having an interest in the narrative as I didn't really care all that much about the narrative, nor for the characters. So writer Justin Kelly didn't exactly bedazzle me with this script.I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. The acting performances in the movie were actually fair.While the movie is semi-watchable, it is hardly an outstanding or memorable viewing experience. And it definitely is not a movie that I will sit down to watch a second time.My rating of director Marvin Towns Jr.'s 2025 movie "Son of the Preacher" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
