Not Too Bad

A pleasant, feel-good comedy, The Comic Shop blends charming indie storytelling with an impressive ensemble cast. Jonathan L. Bowen's amateurish touches are evident, and the narrative wobbles with inconsistencies, but there's an undeniable sweetness and affectionate charisma to its underdog spirit. Cast help a lot.

SLEEPER OF THE YEAR-SUPER

Very nice film about the comic business. Well done with Jesse Metcalf in starring role about a comic book shop owner who is struggling to run his shop. He had dreams of being a comic book ILLUSTRATOR, but gave up on that original plan many years before opening up his own comic book shop.Great casting, with much characterization of people involved in the comic book business. Would have loved to see KEVIN SMITH MAKE AN APPEARANCE HERE, but I am sure there were budgetary restraints. Plenty of nice animation here as well; which translated well into the story. One thing this film does best, that many other films FAIL to do is get you to CARE about the characters in the film. This film will not disappoint the comic book fan. And you don't even need to be a comic book fan to see this nice movie.
