Better than its meagre budget would suggest

This film is obviously made on a shoestring budget. There's no actors you'd know, and some doubled up as production people also. But to dismiss it would be unfair.It's part Lady in the Water, a little of Signs, and then the rest all their own work.The acting is perfectly acceptable, the camera work and music well on par, and the story line, although not without the occasional hole, is interesting and well written.I've certainly seen many mainstream big budget films with far far worse plots, stories and acting.I hardly think it'll make mainstream, and people who want more popularism and budgets in their movies will find it rather slow, but I would certainly recommend it as a worthy watch.

Excellent with the perfect amount of suspense

Girl in the Woods is a wonderful suspense from start to finish. The acting is fantastic and natural and I felt like I was right alongside the characters throughout the whole thing. Not every scene has music and the silence creates a terrifying atmosphere at some points, perfect for some sudden jump scares. Twist at the end leaves the audience gasping and cheering simultaneously. I will watch this one again and again!

Squandered potential...

I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2025 mystery thriller "The Girl in the Woods". And yeah, sure, I didn't know what I was in for here, as I had never heard about the movie. Not that it really mattered, because I do believe in giving all movies a fair chance. And thus I needed no persuasion to check out writer and director James S. Ryan's 2025 movie.Writer James S. Ryan, whom also directed the movie, put together a script and storyline that proved interesting to begin with and proved so for the majority of the movie. Well, right up to the point where the big reveal was laid upon the audience; when you find out what really is going on. I will say that it was a bit of a disappointment that turn of events, and it felt a bit like a slap in the face with a cold, dead fish.The movie has a small cast ensemble, which meant there was more of a pressure to perform well and carry the movie laying on the actors and actresses. And I will say that they did a good job, and the acting performances were good. I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list.Watchable if you enjoy a mystery thriller, though it is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.My rating of writer and director James S. Ryan's 2025 movie "The Girl in the Woods" lands on a four out of ten stars.
