Absolutely Terrible

So bad, literally laughed the entire way through it, zero effort or budget put into this middle school production. I thought it looked so good on the trailer just to waste an hour of my life. I paid $5 to rent this and wouldn't recommend watching even if it gave you $5. I don't think the producers really meant to release this movie.

It was okay...

Now, the mere fact that the 2025 movie "The Hermit" was a horror movie, was more than sufficient for me to opt to watch it. I am a big fan of all things horror, after all. And the fact that it was a horror movie that I had neither seen nor heard about before, well that just helped sweeten the deal.The storyline in "The Hermit", as written by William Walkerley, was adequate. I mean, it was watchable and fair enough for what it was. But with my more than 40+ years of watching horror movies, this wasn't exactly an outstanding or memorable foray into the slasher genre.There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Malina Pauli Weissman and Lou Ferrigno. The acting performances in the movie were adequate.The effects in the movie were fair, and there were some worthwhile violence and visceral mayhem to keep the movie afloat.While "The Hermit" was a fair enough movie, it hardly was a memorable horror movie. But I suppose newcomers to the horror genre will enjoy it far more than I did as seasoned horror veteran.My rating of director Salvatore Sclafani's 2025 movie "The Hermit" lands on a generous five out of ten stars.
