A brotherhood movie

Inspired by true events, the story located at mt Jayawijaya, the highest mountain in Papua, East Indonesia. It combined some military ops, lead by Gen. Prabowo (now is Indonesian's President) , sent one special team Jaguar, lead by Timur (Iko Uwais) to rescued researcher hostages from militant led by Tobias ( Arnold Kobagou). One of the militant is their childhood brother, Apollo (Aufa Assegaf). Now they met as a rival, and have to fight each other to defend their nation and trust. The war at the jungle begins.Iko Uwais tries to give his best shot as a director and actor, although i feel its not his peak. Some fighting actions are not special like the raid, but it still okay. Since this is the story about military ops and brotherhood. Dont expect too high for the fighting scene. But i m still proud of Iko and Nagita (Director and Producer) to make this movie as an appreciation for Indonesia's military who fight for the country. Wish both of u , continue your job and make Indonesia proud.

Basic, but it works

It's my first time leaving a review, and this is coming from casual audience.I came here watching expecting nothing, and it doesn't really disappoint nor it impresses me. It is known that Iko Uwais got a reputation from The Raid franchise, especially for its superb fighting style and impactful fighting scenes. The good thing is, it exists in here: the suspense, the impact and the choreography. The gore feels impactful, and will definitely make you move. This movie is especially action oriented, and will at the very least incite certain adrenaline and excitement through the body. The story exists, and it doesn't really leave a major plot hole. The theme explores brotherhood, betrayal and loyalty. There's an emotional undercurrent that adds layer to the structure of the movie.Yet it doesn't really went further than that. The characters exists, historical too-but it's lacking depth and layers that makes them alive. It's as if they existed simply to add suspense and basic human emotions. Nothing wrong with that, really, but it doesn't really make me feel *anything* about the movie beyond the layer of suspense and action. So what to expect is good action-oriented movie, The Raid-like choreography and gore, as well as basic themes and emotional exploration. But don't expect anything more than that.Worth watching if you want to see fighting scenes. Less so if you're seeking superb emotional depth and top-tier writing. It just works.

Disappointing Despite Good Action

I would rate this movie 2 stars overall, but I'm giving it 4 mainly for the fight choreography, which was quite enjoyable. However, some of the fight scenes felt unnecessarily long. Unfortunately, the storyline is very weak, with several unclear and illogical plot points. For example, it's unexplained how the wife and daughter suddenly appear at the basecamp, how they knew the husband/father had completed his mission, and why civilians were even allowed to be there. As someone who usually enjoys Indonesian films, this one was disappointing for me, especially since I prefer movies with clear storytelling and logical plot development.
