A legend ruined by CGI

After a legendary career built on a team capturing unprecedented footage of wildlife, it's fitting to see obvious CGI in one of his docs. It felt cheap, unnecessary and left me questioning every piece of footage in the whole doco. The fox fight, which I'm almost certain was CGI, with the narration "few get to see a fight like this" just felt gross.I'm guessing he doesn't want to, or can't travel as much, and fair enough. But I'm hoping CGI isn't the final chapter of his otherwise undeniable legacy.

Just perfect

As usual, another perfect documentary with David Attenborough.I always find there's something special about nature documentaries set in an urban environment. The documentary focuses on the wild animals that live in the city, such as foxes and beavers. The film also conveys a message: that you don't always have to travel far to see nature. It can be found right in your backyard.

Urban London delights

Another excellent production featuring David Attenborough. This time the focus is very much on urban wildlife in London and its a great way to spend an hour. Attenborough appears on screen a few times and he makes it all look so effortless. He's never waving his hands around or yelling like so many presenters these days both on tv and online in their short soundbites, he really lets the nature do most of the talking. The photography is of course lovely and so is the colour grading, you really are seeing people working at the top of their game. We get plenty of action with foxes, peregrine falcons, and even pigeons and slugs. Its amusing to see people walking past in the background while all this drama plays out. We see a little of the dangers we bring to wildlife, mostly our love of cars and dogs. The programme is shot in lovely sunshine which always helps, though lots is also filmed at night, though the street lamps light everything up nicely. We get a full range of animal behaviour, everyone likes a hedgehog, while a rather sinister looking seagull obliges as the playground bully.Highly recommended.
