Decent effort that falls mostly flat

I love found footage. Probably my favorite sub-genre in horror. It allows people with a minimal budget to get creative, and go for raw scares instead of overly produced, big budget slop of most modern Hollywood horror. While I appreciate a good low budget offering in the genre, there really is no excuse for a movie to be THIS sparse in funds in 2025. There are so many outlets where people will literally throw money at you to make a decent movie, from Indiegogo to Kickstarter, it really is disheartening to still see people make these shoestring budget films with horrible SFX. I mean, Youtube has teenagers creating better visual effects that this movie did, and that is just sad.This movie had what it took to really do something special; an attractive couple, a solid location, a contrived story that wasn't too intellectually taxing. All it had to do was be scary and look good while doing it. Unfortunately, the film did neither. All it did was give us a rehashed story, with too many jump scares and nothing that was actually even scary, and sophomoric SFX that should make the people responsible feel ashamed.The best thing I can say about this movie is that the lead actor is very good looking, is funny, charismatic and talented, and actually stole each scene he was in. But one positive in a sea of negatives does not a good movie make.I wanted to like this, but I just can't in good conscience recommend his movie to anyone, not even FF fans. It does nothing well enough for even the most lenient fan to enjoy.

Fairly good

Wasn't for sure if I was going to like this one or not, after the beginning I was loosing interest, but stuck with it and overall I ended up enjoying it. The storyline wasn't the best, but the scares and a haunting atmosphere was there. The found footage angle gets boring pretty quickly in most of these types of movies.

Love this movie. It's like Blair witch meets hereditary. The pacing is perfect, it was never boring and I was never sure what was going to happen next. Very effective on a psychological level, just the right amount of creepy mixed in with an otherwise normal couple. The build up in this movie is masterfully done. I think it will be every bit as scary during the second viewing.
