how do such mediocre actors keep getting work

It's such a strange thing that actors like kit and sophie continue to get work when they simply lack ability. The movie was a bit of mid offering made even moreso by such dull actors. It's hard to grasp why "hollywood" decides certain people should get work far beyond their ability. Obviously filmmakers feel the game of thrones connection will get some draw but maybe try using the actors who could actual act.

What a bore fest!

The Dreadful (2026) is a gothic horror movie that follows a woman named Anne and her mother-in-law Morwen who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society, but when a man from their past returns, he will set off a sequence of events that become a turning point for Anne. This is a movie that was only on my radar because of the actors involved. Unfortunately for me, this movie was an absolute snoozefest.Positives for The Dreadful (2026): The acting from Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Marcia Gay Harden is the only good thing in this movie.Negatives for The Dreadful (2026): This movie was a drag to get through and it is short at only 94 minutes. There is no horror to speak of and when it does happen, it is generic and boring. The story is a collection of scenes happening in order. The jumpscares are lame and annoying. I didn't care what was happening at all. And finally, the ending was painfully underwhelming.Overall, The Dreadful (2026) is the most boring movie of 2026 so far and it is still February.

even though its only a 94 min its still feels as a long movie

I had mixed feelings about The Dreadful. It's only 94 minutes, but somehow it feels much longer because of its slow, linear pacing. The strongest element is easily the atmosphere - dark, immersive, with haunting music that really surrounds you. Kit Harington and Sophie Turner are solid and restrained, but the film's themes about grief, faith, and punishment didn't emotionally land for me. I understood everything, yet I didn't really feel much.
