Better than it looks

I confess I thought the first trailer I saw made this look like "Cocaine Bear" on a budget and I probably would have skipped it if not for my roommate, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised by "Grizzly Night." The film is based on a true story that happened in 1967 and while the plot obviously negates an update with current technology, I can't say that the film successfully portrays the era. It's likely a budgetary issue, but there was definitely a disconnect. No, the film is not all about gore, and it's a shame anybody would give it a poor review strictly for that reason (as the first review displayed does). As a true story, it handles the tragedy respectfully. If you're spoiled by how realistic the famous attack sequence in "The Revenant" was or if you go in expecting more "Cocaine Bear." you may be disappointed. But if you're looking for a fascinating true story and instead willing to settle for a moderate amount of suspense, it wasn't a bad way to spend a night.

Disappointing - unlike Cocaine Bear

I love bear movies. So I watched Grizzly Night. The set up and the characters seemed confusing - like - is this a comedy or an all out gore-action movie? No one can tell. I was willing to forgive this lapse in actualisation, but then I realised that they would always drop off during the bear attacks. No gore, no bear-human conflict on camera. Everything is implied. I stopped watching halfway. And I haven t done that with many movies.

I genuinely enjoyed this one...

I happened to stumble upon the 2026 movie "Grizzly Night" by random chance. And with it being a movie that I had never heard about, and thus obviously also never seen, of course I opted to check it out and give it a fair chance. And I have to admit that movies with killer animals do have a certain appeal to them for me.Writers Bo Bean, Katrina Mathewson and Tanner Bean actually put together a script and storyline that proved entertaining and enjoyable. It wasn't an over-the-top type of movie with bears going on a killing frenzy, but it was done in a manner where it was believable, and the wears weren't painted as vicious man-killers throughout the narrative; but merely as the animals that they are. So thumbs up for that accomplishment by the writers. It was a good and believable character gallery.Oded Fehr and Josh Zuckerman were the only two familiar faces on the cast list for me. The acting performances in "Grizzly Night" were good. The effects in the movie were good and helped bring the movie to life on the screen in a way that added to the overall enjoyment of the movie. If you enjoy movies with killer animals and such, then "Grizzly Night" is actually well worth spending 87 minutes on watching. My rating of director Burke Doeren's 2026 movie "Grizzly Night" lands on a six out of ten stars.
