A Generic Action Exercise That Quickly Falls Apart

"The Internship" is a film that sounds far more interesting on paper than it is in execution. Despite a premise that hints at dark themes and high-stakes tension, the final result is disappointingly flat, uninspired, and often boring. The plot is painfully unoriginal and poorly developed. It follows familiar action-thriller beats without adding any real personality or depth, making the story feel predictable from the very beginning. Instead of building intrigue or emotional weight, the narrative moves mechanically from one point to the next, never finding a strong rhythm or sense of escalation. The script is one of the film's weakest elements. Dialogue feels stiff and unnatural, character motivations are thinly sketched, and many scenes play out with a sense of obligation rather than purpose. There's little nuance or cleverness in the writing, which is especially damaging for a movie that wants to explore themes like manipulation, control, and rebellion.Performances don't manage to save the film. While some actors try to bring intensity to their roles, the material gives them very little to work with. A few casting choices feel off, and overall the acting comes across as uneven, sometimes bordering on flat. Even the action lacks impact because there's no emotional investment behind it.In the end, "The Internship" isn't offensively bad, but it's deeply forgettable. It's a generic action film with a weak script and underdeveloped ideas, leaving you disengaged rather than entertained. A missed opportunity that never rises above mediocrity.

I think they tried to make something fantastical.

You're making a film, but why didn't you get rid of those exaggerated scenes? And that camera speeding up for a second or two and then returning to normal was terrible, and you used it everywhere. I really liked the script, but everything else was awful. They exaggerated it so much, it's like in a Chinese movie where a guy jumps up in the air and doesn't come down - that's the level of exaggeration. I give it a 3 out of 10. I think they tried to make something fantastical.
